Obituary of Rose Marie Delong
DELONG, Rose Marie, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on October 4, 2023. Rose was 69 years old.
Rose was born in Gormanville, Nova Scotia to Earline and Violet (White) Harvey on September 28, 1954. She spent all her life living in Nova Scotia calling Stewiacke home for the last 25 years.
Rose was a loving and fiercely protective mother of her children, Margaret and Glenn, and her granddaughter Layla “The Princess”. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her granddaughter. Rose and her husband Lowell could frequently be found sitting out on the step greeting and chatting with the local passersby. A few of her favorite things in life were tea parties with Layla, talking with her cats, smelling the flowers, listening to music, antiques and great deals, and her faith. She will be immensely missed by her family and friends.
Rose spent many successful years selling real estate. Before retirement, she was a homecare professional, providing support for the elderly.
Rose was predeceased by her father Earline, her mother Violet and daughter Crystal.
She is survived by her husband Lowell Delong, daughter Margaret (Darrell Mauger), son Glenn MacDonnell (Wanda Foley); granddaughter Layla MacDonnell; brothers Larry, Cyril “Cy” (Beatrice), Danny and her sisters Peggy Matthews and Roxcy Verge, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A Remembrance Service and reception will take place 1-3pm Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie.
The family would like to thank the staff at VON, Palliative Care and Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care and support.
