Obituary of Kenneth Arsenault

ARSENAULT, Kenneth Andrew, age 79, Enfield, passed away February 10, 2014 at home in Enfield. Born in Charlottetown, he was a son of the late Andrew and Helen (Dennis) Arsenault. Ken enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces at an early age, a proud member of the Black Watch which he enjoyed immensely and made many good friends in the 2nd Battalion and Transport over 20 years, serving in Korea, Germany, Cyprus and Canada. While serving in Germany he played hockey for the Black Watch. After retirement from the services he worked at the Heavy Water Plant in Port Hawkesbury and lived in Louisdale, where he was a founding member and first Fire Chief of the Volunteer District Fire Department. Later he met and married Irene and moved to Kennetcook and was instrumental in forming the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 166, Noel, where he served as president, poppy chairman, Sargent at Arms and was made a life member. Also zone 14 sports officer and County Chairman and served on Black Watch Association Board of Directors. Ken was an active volunteer for Camphill, schools and legions. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, playing darts, 45's and crib. Ken leaves behind his wife Irene (Ettinger) (Dimock), son Kenny (Lynn), daughter Muriel (Chuck) Jackson, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five stepchildren Debbie Arsenault, Reg (Debbie) Dimock, Jo-Anne (Vaughn) Shepherd, Steve (Darlene) Dimock, Danny (Tina) Dimock, and three step grandchildren; sisters Shirley Beselga, June Arsenault; brothers Arthur (Shirley), Charlie (Brenda), Ralph, Carl (June) and best buddy Butch McQuade. He was predeceased by his sister Jennie Wood, brothers Earl and Lomar. Legion service to be held at 1pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, followed by a funeral service at 2pm, Rev. Beth Brehaut officiating assisted by Rev. Angus MacDonald. Interment will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Colchester East Hants VON.
