Obituary of Harriet Jane Anthony

Please share a memory of Harriet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

ANTHONY, Harriet Jane -age 79, of Shubenacadie. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harriet Jane Anthony, on Friday May 5, 2023. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Bessie (Frame) Driscoll.

Harriet leaves behind an enormous void and will be forever missed and loved by her family. In her early years, Harriet worked as a florist at the Rose Bowl Flower Shop in Shubenacadie. However, her most important profession was being a wife, Mum and Grandmother, and she took great pride in it. Harriet’s family was her life and her life was her family. For everyone who knew her, she will be fondly remembered for her love of adventures, antiques and jewelry. Harriet (and her late husband Carl) were passionate fans and supporters of their boys and grandchildren in their sporting events and endeavours. They would never miss a game and they travelled all over the world to cheer them on. She was a staple at the ballfield where you could always find her right behind home plate. And of course, if you asked her, none of her boys ever struck out; the umpire was wrong. She also loved her home on Shortts Lake and always welcomed family and friends with open arms and a glass of wine.

Harriet will be sadly missed by her sons; Larry (Farida), Truro; Terry (Jackie), Shubenacadie; grandchildren; Graham, Sarah, Jenny, Matthew, Luke, Cody and Alex; great grandchildren; Yemaya, Aitreya, Keel, Simon, Eric and Jane; sisters in-law, Faye Laffin and Amy Anthony; nieces, Marlene and Michele;

Besides her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Carl; son, Darcy, an infant daughter, Michelle.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday, May 15th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.
