Obituary of Stephen James Snyder
SNYDER, Stephen James, CD – age 68 of Dutch Settlement, passed away after his short battle with cancer on April 18th, 2023, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was the son of Lovett and Margaret Snyder, of Eastern Passage.
Stephen served over 25 years with the military and was a proud and true Canadian having numerous medals and commendations from his military and civilian employment. After retiring from the military, he worked offshore with the rigs, supply and seismic vessels. After retiring from the offshore industry, he worked in property management with Crombie Reit, City Group and CBRE and finally retiring from Jones Lang Lasalle Real Estate as the mobile engineering lead supervisor for the Atlantic provinces. Stephen loved music and enjoyed playing his 12 string guitar, button accordion, harmonica and any other musical instrument he got his hands on.
Besides his parents, he leaves behind his wife, soulmate and best friend, Sharon (Power) Snyder of 49 years; his daughters, who he absolutely adored, Diane (Joe), Newmarket, Ontario; Melissa (Mike), Port Hawkesbury, NS; Melanie (Sean), Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is also survived by sisters, Sherry, Kathy, Ellen and Laura; nine grandchildren plus two special little boys who came into his life.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. In keeping with Stephen’s wishes there will be no visitation or service.
