Obituary of Violet Ann Simon

SIMON, Violet Ann – age 71 of Indian Brook, passed away on January 31^st, 2023 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Harrison) Doucette.

Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was devoted to her family and was always caring and compassionate and had a great sense of humor. Violet enjoyed long drives, beach days, fishing, and lots of blueberry picking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Violet is survived by her children, Wilfred James Simon “Jimi”, Serena Simon, Crystal Simon, Andrea Kingham, Philomena Simon, Roddie Gould, Caleb Goodall; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Kathleen Dunlap, Joseph Doucette, Diana Doucette, Edna Goodall, Arthur Doucette, Annette Farewell, Rose Doucette; numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, James; brothers, Harold, Phillip, and infant brother, Richard.

A  public visitation will be held from 9:00am until 12:00pm on Friday February 3rd, 2023 at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie. Cremation to follow.

As per Violet’s wishes, following cremation, at a later date there will be a private family gathering to remember Violet’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Violet may be made to the Diabetes Society of Canada.
