Obituary of Cleta Norma Hines

HINES, Cleta Norma – age 86 of Dutch Settlement, passed away peacefully on January 7^th, 2023, in Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in Noel Road, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Harriet (Isenor) Harvie.

Cleta liked her puzzles and loved to bake and cook. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a great friend to all. She spent many Sunday evenings playing bingo. She enjoyed her weekends at the cottage with her family and her weekly music jams with her siblings. She spent many years volunteering with the St. George’s Anglican Church Guild. When she was less able to spend her time volunteering, she still contributed with her baking. Her signature recipe was her gingerbread sauce which the Guild still uses to this day.

Cleta is survived by her children, Philip (Tanya), Cathy (Martin “George”), Gregory (Valerie), Timothy (Becky), Randy, Pamela (Alan), Dawn (Clayton); 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with another on the way in February; siblings, June, Ken (Gloria), Lindsay (Eileen), Bonnie (Eric), Elda (Danny); many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Keith.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 13^th, 2023, from 6 – 8 PM in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Donations in Cleta’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Cleta’s homecare workers and to the staff at Vimy Court for their care and compassion.
