Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
HARVEY, Phyllis Ella, age 90, of Milford, Hants County, passed away on December 26, 2022 at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born on September, 21, 1932, at home in South Rawdon, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Woodworth) Burgess and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Our mother deeply loved her family and enjoyed every one of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and she was always up for family gatherings, people dropping in and was always able to magically prepare a meal as if she planned it for days. Mom's homemade bread and rolls were famous and she knew who liked dark crust and light crust (most important). Mom enjoyed sewing. She squeezed enough money out of their budget in the 1960's with 9 children to take a sewing course of which she enjoyed immensely, and she was able to tackle any sewing projects including prom dresses and wedding dresses for her family.
Surviving are her children, Bruce (Jean), Vera (Brian), Jocelyn (Ralph), Perry (Cathy), Cindy, Pam (Bob), Kirby (Connie) and Deanna; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and extended members of our Harvey clan and all our Burgess relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roland Harvey, daughter, Lou Ann, her two granddaughters, Mindy Young and Abie McLane, sons-in-law, James Young and Bruce McLane, brothers, Theron “Bud”, Lewis, Milton, and Kenny, sisters, Minnie, Patricia and Judy, several brothers in-law and sisters in-law.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie / Elmsdale. A family interment service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
We wish to thank the Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow for their wonderful care, love and respect for our mother over the years and all the RNs and support staff who supported our family over the last week. It was greatly appreciated. Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Phyllis may be shared with the family at www.ettinger funeralhome.com
