Obituary of Maxine Lucy Zinck

Please share a memory of Maxine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

ZINCK, Maxine Lucy- age 82 of Bedford passed away May 17, 2022, at the Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield. Born in Hardwoodlands on December 4, 1939, she was the eldest of the late Walter and Dorothy (Miller) McCulloch.

Maxine began her employment at the Worker’s Compensation Board in Halifax at an early age and continued to work until she was unable to. She worked in the meat department of several grocery stores and many years at Donnie’s Restoration where she became very close friends with the ladies she worked with especially Judy, Janet, Flo and Edie. It was after she left Donnie’s Restoration when she found her true calling when she became a personal care worker. She was a natural mother and caregiver, always caring and nurturing others. She loved to laugh and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed going for drives, going to the beach and talking on the phone. She loved all animals but especially her Pomeranians, Buddy, Cody and Bucky. She would give you the shirt off her back but wouldn’t hesitate to speak her mind if she deemed it necessary.

Maxine is survived by her ex-husband, David, Hardwoodlands; son, Randy (Kelley); grandsons, Zachariah, Dylan and Isaac; brothers, Gordon (Ann) McCulloch and Stephen McCulloch; sister, Nadine McCulloch, sister in-law, Amanda McCulloch; nephews, Rick, Ron, Wally, Malcolm and Greg; nieces, Laina, Crystal and Jenna.

She was predeceased by her sister, Donna and brother, Maxwell, sister-in-law, Elizabeth.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A celebration of life will be held 1-3pm Saturday, May 28th at the Hardwoodlands Community Centre. There will be a private service for the family at a later date at Sand Hill Cemetery.

A special thanks to the staff at the Magnolia who cared for Maxine and her continuing care Physician, Dr. David Sheehy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA or Hope for Wildlife.
