Wayne Burns Obituary

BURNS, James Ralph “Wayne” – age 73 of Ardoise, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2022 in the QEII Infirmary, Halifax. Born in Maitland, he was a son of the late Jean Burns.

Wayne was raised on the family farm which instilled in him hard work and determination which was his motto throughout his life. Wayne started his working life with Parks Canada and continued a career with the Government of Canada where he was able to retire from early.

He enjoyed gardening, skiing, a mean game of cribbage and travel.  He and the love of his life Dianne spent 13 cold Atlantic winters in sunny Clearwater Florida. Florida was just one of many travel destinations where they drove all across Canada and a vast majority of the US. They were fortunate enough to travel to many sun destinations & cruise the high seas. Wayne along with Dianne spent many years enjoying the dancing life in square dancing with many clubs in the Halifax area and danced in several parts of the Maritimes and anywhere they could find along their many travels.

Wayne is survived his son Leslie Burns, grandchildren Tristan, Chase and his great grandchildren, by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Burns; nieces, Angela Burns and Tina Burns; chosen family Terry and Melonie Hebert; many special friends, close neighbours and acquaintances.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dianne, as well as his brother, Aubrey.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held from 11 AM – 12:30 PM Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.

Wayne’s ashes will be interred along with his wife, Dianne’s in Maitland Anglican Cemetery following the celebration of life.
