Judy, Brian, David and Families:
Your Mom/Grandmother would have experienced so many changes in life over the span of 100 years.
Such an amazing feat that many are not fortunate enough to experience. Perhaps her stubbornness, determination and strong will kept her here all this time, which I'm sure you're all grateful for.
Your Mom and I have a bit of history, from Church Choir to acting.
I learned a lot about your Mom when we performed together in 1979 in the musical “Brigadoon” at
Hants East Rural High, directed by Jean Lier Steeves.
Ethel took me under her wing and made me feel like I mattered and that we were all equals, a part of her I'd never experienced before.
She gave so much humor and ablibing to her part in the play, but also made you feel like you were really in “Brigadoon,” with her singing, her accent, her facial expressions and body language she stole the show. I will always remember her laugh and sauciness and quick whittedness that kept us on our toes. What also stood out was her dedication to the show when falling off the stage in the dark on opening night and continuing on after doctors in the audience numbed her pain, because “the show must go on.”
I hope your Mom has left you with memories that will bring a smile to your face and a shake to your head as you're thinking “yes that was Mom!!!!
May you all find comfort in your own memories and the fact that you had your mother with you until she was 100 years old!! Simply Amazing!!!!
