FULTON (McMULLEN), Mary “Frances”- age 84 of Lantz, passed away peacefully September 18, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Hardwood Lands, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Gourley) McMullen.
Frances started her life in Hardwood Lands but as a very young woman married Douglas Fulton and her journey across Canada began. His service in the military took them to the Yukon, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Ontario and even took them to Germany for 3 years. They settled in Calgary, following his retirement from the service. Frances was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest was 10 and then entered the work force doing jobs as varied as working at a cookie factory, a short order cook, and food services. In 1981 she went to work for the Calgary Board of Education as a school aide. She later took the ESL course and finished her working years teaching English to many new immigrant children. In 2009 she made the big move and relocated back to her beginnings in Nova Scotia.
Frances was the ultimate social butterfly. She loved to play cards, dance, go bowling and play badminton. She gave many years to support young girls in Guiding from serving as a Brown Owl to a District Commissioner. She had many hobbies including knitting, crocheting and baking. As many know, she was an expert level shopper and loved chatting on the phone.
