Frances was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest was 10 and then entered the work force doing jobs as varied as working at a cookie factory, a short order cook, and food services. In 1981 she went to work for the Calgary Board of Education as a school aide. She later took the ESL course and finished her working years teaching English to many new immigrant children. In 2009 she made the big move and relocated back to her beginnings in Nova Scotia.
Frances was the ultimate social butterfly. She loved to play cards, dance, go bowling and play badminton. She gave many years to support young girls in Guiding from serving as a Brown Owl to a District Commissioner. She had many hobbies including knitting, crocheting and baking.
