Obituary of Beth Mitchell

Please share a memory of Beth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elizabeth “Beth” Jean Mitchell (nee Stewart), 76, of Enfield, Nova Scotia, passed away on September, 10th, 2021 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.

Beth was born in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick to Perry and Marjorie Stewart on November 1st, 1944.

She was a beloved mother of Dr. Kirk (Amy) Baker of Villa Park, IL and Meghan (John Duggan) Lloyd-Duggan of Enfield, Nova Scotia;  Grandmother to Mitchell, Connor and Callum Lloyd, Matthew Duggan, Cameron and Zachary Baker. Beth is also survived by her sister Josephine “Jo-Anne” (Mark) Simpson of Tiny, ON and her niece Caitlin Simpson and nephew Wesley Simpson.

She enjoyed frequent visits to New Brunswick to see her dear friends who brought such joy to her.  She enjoyed traveling near and far with her best friend Pauline, her dart games with her Enfield pals and would often be found playing the VLTs at the casinos hoping for the jackpot.  She had more fun dreaming for the jackpot than actually winning it.  Dear to her heart was watching her grandsons (Mitchell, Connor, Callum, and Matthew) play hockey and visiting Chicago to see her grandsons (Cameron and Zachary).

She will be missed by her many friends from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Chicago, Ontario and the list goes on.  She had a way with people that made them feel special, one-of-a-kind.  They wanted to be a part of her life, just to be around her.  She made life fun.

She opened her arms to people she encountered.  She had friends who were both rich and poor, famous and everyday, she had no biases, she loved everyone and everyone loved her.

The family would like express our deep gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Floor 8A at the Victoria General hospital for their great care of Beth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George’s Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society against the fight for leukemia.

Funeral service will be held at the Elmsdale Chapel of Ettinger Funeral Home, 860 Highway 2, on September 18th at 1pm with Dr. Kirk Baker of the Moody Church officiating. A private family burial will follow at St. George’s Cemetery in Dutch Settlement, Nova Scotia.

Condolences and words of comfort and memories of Beth may be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
