Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Kerr

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our very dear Elizabeth Ann Kerr.  Liz passed very unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021 and our hearts are broken.

She was an extraordinary woman who had a great sense of humour and a heart full of love for her family and friends.   Her nieces and nephews gave her immense pleasure and she showered us with attention and love.

Liz worked as a laboratory technologist at the Mackenzie building on the VG Hospital site.  She received her ART (advanced technology) in Microbiology.  She was very well respected for both her work and research.

Liz is survived by her sister Gwen (Kerr) Clark, nieces and nephews; Vivian (Kerr) Nedelcu, Leslie (Kerr) Hartzell, Jennifer Kerr, Greg Clark, Scott Clark, Alan Clark, Catherine (King) Broad, Chris King, and Mark King.

Additionally, she shared her love with the next generations of nieces and nephews, Elena Nedelcu (Nicolae, Malik and Vivian), Michael Nedelcu, Ion Nedelcu (Olivia and Alicia), Kris Hartzell (Chase and Madison), Dan Hartzell, Ben Broad, Sarah Broad, Jamie Clark (Connor and JJ), Alyssa Clark, Nicole Clark and Alexander Clark.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Oran and Alice Kerr, sister Marion, brother Wilfrid “Bud”, brothers-in-law, Stan “Merlyn” Clark and Barry King, sister-in-law Marie Kerr and nephew Timothy King.

Liz was a survivor of lung cancer for more than 20 years and in 2018, we had the great good fortune to have a celebration marking the occasion of being 20 years cancer-free. She was thrilled to celebrate with her sister, nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends.  It was truly a memorable occasion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liz’s favorite charity, The Molly Appeal (Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 2 PM, in Ettinger Funeral Home,  Shubenacadie.    Masks will be required.  There will be a reception after the service in the funeral home hospitality area.

Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Liz may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com

We will forever love and miss her.
