Obituary of Grace Marie Cummings
CUMMINGS, Grace Marie- age 47 of Enfield passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a brief illness.
Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of Rose (Vautor) MacKinnon and the late Laughlin MacKinnon.
Grace tried her hand at various careers over the years but found her true calling when she became a Continuing Care Assistant, a career that allowed Grace to show everyone what caring, compassion and love can accomplish. Grace was not only a valued co-worker but a true friend very much loved by her co-workers and residents alike whom she cared for at Shannex, Bissett Court. At Bissett Court she served as co-chair on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and was an advocate for the health and safety of her co-workers, a position that was very important to her.
Grace was President of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary enjoying her role within the Department and took great joy in spearheading many department functions and activities over the years.
Grace loved her community of Enfield, volunteering throughout and whenever help was needed you could count on her being there. But her biggest role is the one she played in spearheading the yearly Community Christmas Tree Lighting event, she loved to see everyone at the fire hall having fun, meeting one another and just celebrating in the joy of the season.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, John; daughter, Jenna; sisters, Michelle (Frank) MacDonnell, Donna (John) Clarke; brothers, Lauchie (Tracy), Shane (Kelly), Eddie (Paulette) Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A Celebration of Grace’s life will be held once COVID-19 restrictions have eased.
