WILLIAMS, Gerald “Gerry” Lynn – age 82, of Shubenacadie passed away Saturday May 15th , 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.  Born in Mill Village, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Wallace and Ruby (Fisher) Williams.

Gerry was successful in the boardroom. He split his career between Firestone Tire and Discount Car and Truck Rentals where he built those significant brands to what you see today here in Atlantic Canada.

On the ballfield he was a fierce competitor well into his 40’s then moving into management with the Shubenacadie Lions Fastpitch Club and with them an East Hants Sports Hall of Fame induction. He also was the President of NS Senior Hockey League during the prominent Allen Cup winning period of the 1990’s.

After his retirement Gerry spent his time giving back to the community as a founding member and curator of the Shubenacadie Tin Smith Museum. He was a crowd favourite cast member each year in the annual St. James Anglican Parish Dinner Theatre and sang in the church choir every Sunday.

In recent years Gerry (aka Godder) enjoyed watching his grandsons play ball and hockey travelling across Canada. He loved spending time with his great grandson, Maximus, and feeding treats to Bentley the beagle.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Anne; son, Todd (Anita); stepchildren, Carol, Sheila, Judy, John, and Elaine; grandsons, Tyler and Chandler; great grandson, Maximus; and a large extended family.

Gerry was the last surviving family member. He was predeceased by his first wife, Linda; brothers, Max, Donnie, Claude, Harvey, Loran, Neil; and sister, Phyllis.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Cremation has taken place.

Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village.

In lieu of donations, the family asks that everyone please take a moment to hum a country song, hug their loved ones, and have a fond memory of Gerry.
