HINES, Auley, W.- age 91 of Truro, formerly of Shubenacadie and Dutch Settlement passed away peacefully in The Mira, Truro on April 25, 2021. Born in Dutch Settlement, he was a son of the late Harry and Pearl (Simpson) Hines.

Auley worked at Laurie Isenor and Sons Lumber Mill in Dutch Settlement and finished his career with L.E. Shaw Ltd.

Auley enjoyed fiddle music and would attend the annual fiddling contest in Dartmouth each year. He and Merle enjoyed dancing. He would spend countless hours playing Crokinole and cards. Auley was known for keeping his vehicles impeccably clean and shining.

He is survived by his wife, Merle (Phalen); brother John “Jack”; sisters, Olga Hines, Dorothea Jordan, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Lorna, Nina, Iris, Joyce and Elizabeth; brothers, Errold and Aubrey.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service will be held at a later date.
