Deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. I only had a nodding acquaintance of your mother, in church, as our family sat in the same section of the church. I remember her, looking very much like the photo you posted. Very pretty with bright eyes. May your memories of a full and happy life comfort you at this time.

Once, I remember jumping over the pew to catch her as she had feinted during a carol we were singing. We will certainly miss her. She was a beautiful lady.God Bless you. Roger and Faye Bronson.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss and pass on condolences to your family. A memory of your family is when I was about six, and had to stay with your family when my Mother was having Brother Peter in the Truro hospital. As it was in September, Mike and Erie would sneak over to the neighbours garden with salt and pepper in hand to enjoy some tomatoes, sitting on the ground of course and staying out of site, while the neighbours were watching the Lucille Ball show (great timing). I still enjoy eating tomatoes standing in my garden with salt and pepper in hand. My memory also includes (the whole family) watching the Saturday night hockey game ( something we weren’t allowed to do) and how warm and welcome your Mother made me feel during my stay.

Erie, Mike, Johnny and families,
We were so shocked and sorry to hear your sad news. Your Mom visited us often when our Mom, Ann, dropped in after bowling. She was always smiling and it was always a pleasant visit. We are very sorry that we aren’t able to attend her funeral and pay our respects properly but you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Losing the first person we ever loved is so painful but your memories will heal your hearts and you can take solace in knowing you did so much for her. It was that care that allowed to stay in her own, happy home. Take care of yourselves and each other!
Sincerely,
Martin, Debbie, Wendy and Jason Vissers

She sounds like she had a varied and interesting life. To leave home for a new country and to raise a family like your parents did must have taken determination and courage.

May I extend my deepest sympathy to the Van Den Hof family in regard to the recent loss of their beloved mother, grandmother & great- grandmother. Mrs. Van Den Hof was a most warm & very kind person who welcomed those in her extended family , through marriage, with open arms & a warm smile. My sons, Ian & Jeffery, were always delighted in their younger years, to spend time at her home , on the farm. How very fortunate for the family to call such a wonderful individual , Mother & Grandmother.
Warmest regards, Janet Ogden Calder

Erie, Rod, Alec, Corey, Garrett, and family
We were blessed, within Lorneville United Church, to have Geertje join us when she was visiting with Erie and Rod and family from time to time. She shared a beautiful smile with everyone, and I enjoyed reading her story in The Chronicle Herald of her journey, and her connection in Canada with her Dutch friends. She lived a busy, graceful life. Rest gently Mrs. van den Hof.
