Obituary of Mons Eldred Cadwell

CADWELL, Mons Eldred  - age 80, of Enfield, passed away in the Dartmouth General Hospital on January 6, 2021. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Mons and Doris (Best), Cadwell. 

A member of the Sackville Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Br.#162, Mons served overseas in Germany in the Canadian Signal Corp during the 1960s. Raising his family in Sackville, he volunteered his spare time with the Sackville Minor- Baseball and Hockey Associations, both as a coach and referee. Mons took pride in his love for the Habs and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was known as "Bone Crusher" during his time with the Sackville Rebels. Mons worked in many roles in the autobody industry, working his way to being an auto appraiser and adjuster leading into his retirement at Aviva Insurance. He was a proud member of ICAR and the NS Auto Appraisers Association of which he volunteered, fund-raising with auctions for the IWK.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Eileen (Gallant); daughters, Jacqueline (Dennis) Kennedy, Denise (Larry) Pennell; son, Jonathan; grandchildren, Kaila “PJ”, Nathan “Nay” (Dayna), Stephanie “Stinky”, Devon “Zipper”, Jerod “Jer Bear” and Zachary “Zach Factor”; great-grandson Jaxon; brother, Brian (Deb); sister, Valerie (Randy); numerous nieces and nephews; He will be also missed by his three dogs, Gizmo, Bella and Nicholas.  

He was predeceased by a sister, Nola Jarvis and a brother, Keith. 

 Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date.  

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
