Obituary of Gerald Francis MacDonald
MacDONALD, Gerald Francis- age 80 of Dartmouth formerly of Dominion, passed away at home with family by his side on November 9, 2020. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Florence (Strang) MacDonald.
Jerry worked in numerous coal mines in Cape Breton over a 35-year time span. He was passionate about music, playing guitar in several bands and enjoyed sharing his talent at nursing homes in more recent years. These passions were only surpassed by the love of his family, especially that of his grandchildren, Ashley and Connor (his little angels). Jerry was a car lover and was known for the meticulous care he took of his vehicles. He took the family on many memorable car trips throughout Cape Breton and Nova Scotia.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Priscilla (Roth); children, Wallace (John), Karen (Les), and Charlene (Jason); grandchildren, Ashley (Hayley) and Connor; brother, Basil; sisters, Evelyn, Shirley, Geraldine (Tony) and Maureen (Brian); numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Lloyd, Greg, Harold and Eugene; sister, Joan; son in-law, Gary.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A graveside service respecting COVID-19 protocols will be held 11am Saturday, November 21st in St. James Cemetery, Gardiner Mines, Cape Breton, Father Daniel Boudreau officiating.
