Obituary of Peter Suidgeest

Suidgeest, Peter John of Shubenacadie passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday September 28th, 2013. Born in the Netherlands he was the son of the late Johannes and Dorathea (Kragwyk) Suidgeest. Following WW ll Peter served with the Dutch Armed Forces peacekeeping Corps in Indonesia. He then immigrated to Canada from Holland to reside in Ontario in the early 1950's. He met and married his wife Mary in 1960.They operated a Farm in Ingersoll and together moved to Shubenacadie in 1963 to raise their children and operate a new dairy farm. Peter retired in 2001 and his son John continues the operation. He was a member of the St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Parish in Shubenacadie. He is survived by his wife Mary (Klooster) and children Anne (David) Churchill, Teresa (Keith) Penman, John Suidgeest, Nick (Sharlene) Suidgeest, Angela (Stephen) Larkin, Monica (Fred) Sgambati, Petra (Kris) Phillips, David (Valrie) Suidgeest, grandchildren Maria Penman, Damian and Brock Suidgeest, Emily and Ben Larkin, Sabrina and Theo Sgambati, Lucas Phillips, Ria and Levi Suidgeest; sisters Jo, Annie, Nel, and Rie; sisters in law Tiny, Truus, Joke and Cor, numerous nephews and nieces.He was predeceased by a grandson Daniel, brothers Jaap, Kees, Han, Ab (Albert), Joop, and Dick and brothers in law Gerard, Wim, and Jan, and a niece Yolanda. Visitation will take place Tuesday October 1st 7- 9 pm at the Ettinger Funeral Home Shubenacadie. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday at St.Bridget's RC Church Shubenacadie with Fr. Tom Kurudeepan O.M.I. officiating. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery following the service. Family flowers only, donations in Peter's memory may be made to the St. Bridget's Church, the Diabetic Assoc. or the VON.
