Obituary of Laurie Earle Ellis

ELLIS, Laurie Earle, Elmsdale, October 3, 1930 - February 16, 2020. Laurie was comforted by his family before passing peacefully at the age of 89.

 

Lovingly devoted to his predeceased wife Audrey (nee MacDowell); together they enjoyed going to the Nine Mile River dances, travelling and taking pride in their home. Family trips to PEI, Keji, Alaska and the camp at Cooks Lake are fondly remembered. Laurie often reminisced about life growing up on the farm in Rhines Creek, working with his water, oil and sawdust trucks and he had a passion for his antique vehicles. Together with special friend Marg Blake, Laurie enjoyed dinners, drives and daily conversations.

 

Laurie is also survived by children Heather (Michael) MacKeil, Tom (Heather)Ellis, Sandra (Chris)Langille and Carol (Bobby)MacDougall. Grandad passed on great stories and advice to grandchildren Joshua, Jarrett, Jenna Rae, Janelle MacKeil, Lori, Ben, Scott Ellis, Vincent, Johnny, Kathryn MacDougall, Ryan and Riley Langille. Audrey and Laurie’s legacy continues with cherished great grandchildren Haleigh, Adaline, Kaden, Tobin and Callie. Laurie is also survived by siblings Muriel MacPhee, George (Jean) Lorna Crawford, Gordon (Debbie) and David (Heather), numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by parents Earle and Myrtle (nee Whidden), brother Arthur and infant sister Alice.

 

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.

 

At Laurie’s request there will no service. Donations may be made to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, 89 Queen Street, Truro
Nova Scotia B2N 2B2.
