Obituary of Barry James Baker
BAKER, Barry James – age 57, of Carroll’s Corner, passed away peacefully in the QEII- VG Site, Halifax on October 12, 2019.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of Joseph and Thelma (Phalen) Baker.
Barry was a dairy farmer for most of his working life; he truly enjoyed working with his animals. After retiring from farming, he went to work at Elmsdale Lumber, where he made good memories and even better friends.
Barry was always an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman, especially at his camp on Newcombe’s Lake. Many good times were had during his trips down south. His favourite social activity was to enjoy conversation with friends at his kitchen table.
Barry is survived by his wife, Sherry; parents, Joseph (Ida McMaster) and Thelma (Reginald MacPhee); his children, Veronica (Garrett Doncaster), Miranda (Ryan) Shaw, Victor; sister, Dawn (Robert) Ashley; mother in law, Marilynn Tully. Barry was predeceased by his father in law, Dennis Tully.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held 3pm Thursday, October 17th in Ettinger Funeral Home Chapel, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Kim Curlett officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Private interment to follow.
