MacDONALD, DORA ALICE (Peverley) - 97, of West St. Andrews, NS,
with deep regret and immeasurable sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, Dora Alice MacDonald, on February 10, 2013. Born in Ottawa in 1915, Dora was the last surviving member of her original family. She was the daughter of the late Gordon Peverley and Mabel Peverley. Predeceased by her husband, J. Ulric MacDonald and her daughter, Veronica Peverley Pickering. Working for several Firms, she was instrumental in opening up the Maritimes to Public Opinion Research and Marketing Research. She returned to University at age 60, earning her BA and MA in Philosophy and History. She taught public speaking and debating to high-school students. Several of her students went on to win world championships in Debating. Left to mourn her loss and treasure her memory are her daughters Dora Alice (Plourde) Kelloway (Sonny), Joyce McFadden, (Albert), Vivian MacClelland (William), Mary Faith MacDonald, and Reina Mabel MacDonald-Tenn (Howard), she is also survived by her sons, Daniel Ulric MacDonald (Mary Frances) and H. Thompson MacDonald (Jean), also surviving is her chosen daughter Evelyn Cooling. She is survived by 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie, and J.M.Curry's Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Burial will take place in St Anne's Cemetery, Glace Bay. Visitation will be 6-9 Wednesday evening at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, with Funeral Mass 11 am, Thursday February 14th, 2013 at St. Bridget's Church in Shubenacadie, Father Tom Kurudeepan OMI officiating. There will also be a visitation 1-3 Friday at J. M. Curry's Funeral Home in Glace Bay followed by interment in St. Anne's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glace Bay. Family flowers only, please.
