Doug and the Ledwidge Family As you know, I had the great pleasure to get to know Laurie when we were both involved in getting Nova Forest Alliance off the ground. I saw Laurie a lot in those years and for several years after on the Minister's Forest Technical Advisory committee. Laurie was very generous with his time and the forest industry owes a lot to him. He was fun to be around. He had lots of opinions but always had a twinkle in his eye. I learned an enormous amount from Laurie and will miss both his knowledge and his good company. My thoughts are with the family. I am sorry I was out of town this week and unable to be at the funeral. Eldon Gunn

I worked in the Nova Scotia Forest Industry for 5 years from 2000 to 2005 and had many occasions to meet Laurie during my work with the Forest Products Association. I was always attentive whenever Laurie spoke because what he said was always well worth listening to. I respected Laurie and appreciated his significant contributions to the forest industry and to his community. To Laurie's family members - I am very sorry for your loss. Brent Thompson

I spent several hours reflecting on Uncle Laurie's life today. I shared some stories with my wife Jo-Ann and my kids Jenna, Shane, and Kate about their truly great-uncle. He was that rare individual who possessed strength, intelligence, humour, and kindness. Our thoughts are with you. He will be missed.

Jim, Colleen,Lynn,Doug, Kim, Kyle, Cassie,Lauren,Brent,Hannah and Luke and all your family, We were so sorry to hear of your Dad / Granddad's passing. Lauire was a wonderful example of a good community man! You each must be so sad at his loss but may you be substained by the great pride of having had him lead your family all the years you did have him. He has earned his reward to reunited with your Mum and eternal rest! We are so grateful the community had the chance to acknowledge him last summer through our Heritage committee. Your parents / Grandparents did indeed add so much to our community for which we all can be very proud and grateful! I personally have always felt such gratitude from your parents for the work the Legion has done to perserve Emery's memory. That was so important to your Dad. We will carry on for him as you all will too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. May you each be consoled by all your great family memories. We are sorry we were not able to deliver our condolences in person. Sincerley, Wayne and Christine ( nee McKeen) MacAskill

February 18th 2013 I first met Laurie in 1987 on a day not unlike today. I was stuck in the snow behind the airport. Laurie stopped as you know he would and gave me a pull out of the snowbank that had me. From then on whenever I met Laurie we would exchange greetings. He was always smiling and in great cheer. A truly wonderful man. He will be missed by many. Bruce MacDonald Minas Basin Pulp and Power

To the Ledwidge Family, Sorry for your loss. My Mom(Florence Whidden(O'Neill)(Myatt) spoke of your Mom & Dad often. If I'm not mistaken I know she went to school with your Dad and maybe your Mom as well, not sure. She never said a bad word about either of your parents and thought the world of them. It is very hard to lose a parent(s)but you must remember that they are now Angels looking over you. God needed some help and He seems to be taking all the "good ones". Your Father was very well respected, thoughtful, kind, and would do anything for anyone. It helps to remember the memories. Please remember that God only takes the best and your Dad and Mom were certainly "the best". Take care, and God bless, Dianna O'Neill

So sorry to hear of Laurie's passing. Every now and again, one meets a unique individual, and Laurie was one of those rare people. Very saddened to hear of Mr. Ledwidge's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him only for a few years while working as a Provincial Inspector for his sawmill. He always had a handle on the wide picture of life, and enjoyed the respect of many, such as myself. I was always impressed with his recollections of the way the industry had grownand life in the forestry and his concern over how the forestry was managed. His wit and wisdom, will be sorely missed by all. My deepest sympathies to Jim, Doug, families and company staff for their deepest loss, Most rspectfully; David Walsh
