Obituary of Shirley Langille

LANGILLE (SHEARER) Shirley "Lee" Etta, 73- Enfield, passed away on March 5, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harvey and Etta (Whitman) Shearer. Lee lived her life doing what she loved, caring for her family and those in need. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, dancing, shopping and a good game of cards with her sisters. She left home at 18 to join the Canadian Air Force where she worked until she married and stayed home to raise her family, then went to work for Sears and later IMP Aerospace until her retirement. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bruce, her daughters April White (Dan Densmore), Lower Sackville; Holly (Barry) Carroll, Enfield; Sherry (Stephen) Bates, Enfield; beloved grandchildren Katrina (Coleton), Victoria, Nicole, Scott, Samantha and Ethan; brothers Gordon (Shirley) Shearer, Saskatoon; Jack (Marilyn) Shearer, and Gary (Bev) Shearer, both of Lawrencetown; Wayne (Carol) Shearer, Greenwood; sisters Annette Dumbrell and Norma (Rick) Taylor, both of Lawrencetown, and Susan (Jim Lutz) Smith, Wilmot; sisters in-law Donna Shearer, Lawrencetown and Linda Shearer, Bridgetown, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lee was predeceased by brothers William Shearer and Paul Shearer and a nephew Jim Shearer. A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday March 9, 2013 at Ettinger's Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie, M. Dale Crawford officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception area. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Celiac Association, the IWK Health Centre Foundation or a charity of choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Snow and the nurses on both the 11th Floor Chemo and 8A at the VG for their care of Lee, she passed with great dignity and peace. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Lee's niece Jennifer Wallis, for her compassion and support.
