ASHLEY, Calvin Leon - 83, Lantz, passed away at the Halifax Infirmary QEII, Halifax on March 24, 2013. He was a son of the late Freeman and Etta Mae (Isenor) Ashley. At the tender age of 4 and 1/2 years he was lovingly raised by William "Bill" and Mary "Mae" Graves with their daughter Marjorie. Calvin was born in Lantz Siding and attended school at Lantz School. He worked for Laurie Isenor and Sons and worked on the construction of the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge while with Dominion Bridge Construction. He worked for Gilford's Ltd, Radar Station in Beaver Bank and then worked at LE Shaw Ltd. until retirement after 40 years of service. He was also a carpenter working many jobs in home renovation and construction in the surrounding communities. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Elsie Julia (Stevens) Ashley, daughters Judith "Judy" Ashley-LeBlanc (Roger LeBlanc), Peggy Myers (Vernon), Mary Ann Myers (Thane), sons John (Betty), Gary (Marlene), Douglas (Annette), Bryden (Nancy Logan); grandchildren Chelsea and Alisha Ashley, Katrina Ashley, Tanya, Brian and Christopher Myers, Marshall and Riley Ashley, Shawna McNeil and Kyle Myers, Jesse Logan and Katie McNeil; great grandchildren Jordan Myers-Barron, Liam and Maddox McNeil; sisters Katie Isenor and Francis Isenor; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson Gregory Ashley, brothers Roy and Roderick Ashley. sisters Dolly Lively, Rhoda Lively and Goldie Lively. Visitation 7-9pm, Tuesday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie with funeral service 3pm, Wednesday in St. George's Anglican Church, Dutch Settlement, Rev. Canon David Fletcher and Rev. Patricia McKenna officiating. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to St. George's Anglican Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
