Obituary of Vivian Eva Hayes

HAYES (MacPhee), Vivian Eva, age 97 of Truro, formerly Elmsdale, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at home in Truro. Born in Gore, she was a daughter of the late William John and Verna (Gowe) MacPhee. Vivian graduated from Normal College in Truro and spent a number of years teaching throughout Nova Scotia. She was a long time member of Riverview United Church, Elmsdale. In her retirement she enjoyed travelling with her husband Gordon. She remained dedicated to her family throughout her life. She will be sadly missed by children Patrick (Trudy) and Marie (Kenny McManaman), son-in-law Chris Murray (Gerri Samson), grandchildren Angela, Krista, Stephanie, David, Matthew and Laura, great grandchildren Alexis, Michael, Bradley, Quinn, Ella, Brea, Maggie, Jackson and Lilly, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, daughter Anne Murray, daughter in-law Andrea Hayes, sisters Olive MacPhee and Janie Withrow, brothers Arthur, Albert, Phillip, Graham and Larry. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 10, in the Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Riverview United Church in Elmsdale, Rev. Catherine MacDonald officiating. A committal service will take place at 11am on Saturday May 6, 2017 in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Nine Mile River. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division or a charity of choice.
