CHRISTOFF, Nancy-Jo, age 68, of Sipekne'katik First Nation, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at home.
Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Rita Roadknight.
Family was everything to Nancy-Jo. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. Nancy-Jo was a hard worker. In her younger years, she was employed with the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs (Amherst); the Mi’kmaq Native Friendship Centre (Halifax); the Department of Motor Vehicles (Boston); the Union of Nova Scotia Indians and the Sipekne'katik Band. And in her younger years, she was passionate about writing and traveling.
She will be sadly missed by her children, De-Anne Sack, Adam Sack (Laverna), and Nathan Sack (Joan); her beloved grandchildren, Kachina, Kyle, John B., Jake, Kelsey, Arielle, Calen, Farrah, Tyra, Kaiya and Presley; her great-grandchildren Chloe, Leyna and Breyer; sister Tanya Maloney; brother James Roadknight; former husband Henry Sack; godchildren Melanie Paul and Sheila Nevin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her sister Sharon; mother Rita; and her beloved grandmother that raised her, Nancy Christoff.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 beginning at 2 PM at 19 Smith Avenue, Truro, NS, until time of service which will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Saint Kateri's Roman Catholic Church, Sipekne'katik, Fr. Joseph Thomas officiating.
Cremation will follow the service and her ashes will be interred in the spring at We’koqma’q First Nation.
