Dear Kathy, I went into Grande Prairie last week to buy some Nova Scotia seafood from Brian Cameron who grew up in North River! He asked me if I remembered that Football Guy named Lester Gorveatt! I said you bet I do, him and Steven all the way back to Willow st. School. Their mom was a teacher there and she sure had her hands full with those two boys antics I said! He then told me that Lester had passed which I was sad to hear! Also saddened to read in Joanne and Lynns posts that Donald had passed as well. It was years ago I last saw Lester!He was in Truro and we had a chance to sit and shoot the breeze for a while and had some laughs! I recall he was living in NB, and doing very well! I liked Lester he was a large character! we shook hands and wished each other the best and said goodbye! I would like to give my deepest sympathies to you and the family Kathy on the passing of your Lester, that Football Guy! SINCERELY CRAIG

I grew up next door to the Gorveatts and have many many great childhood memories of Lester and his brother! We used to come up with some crazy ideas and his parents were good let us give it a go!!! Like pet chicks the grew to be chickens in their basement!! We loved those chicks til they grew up!!! And they ended up going up the road to a neighbors!!
O Rory for your loss I am sure he was as outgoing in his adult life as he was growing up! Hold on to your memories and thankyou for sharing your photos!!! My deepest sympathy

Dear Kathy, Mr. Gorveatt, Steven, David, Joanne and Chelsey and Jarrett and families, I am so saddened to hear of Lester's passing... There are truly no words but please know just how special Lester was and a part of our family. The stories of his many adventures are epic and bring a smile to my face. Our families grew up together in the early days, fond memories of going to the beach and in later years, having Lester stay and visit in Ottawa with our brother Donald (Newf). When Donald passed away, Lester and Kathy were there to support us and Lester shared some very special moments and time with us during that period. We will always cherish the memories, good times and the hair raising ones as well! Lester's zest and and enthusiasm for life was truly legendary, and his life was well spent. He was kind, caring and very generous.
He will be missed, there will never be another one like him, and I always smile when I think of the man, husband and father that he became over the years.
May you find support and and love from family and friends during this difficult time, much love, Joanne

Dear Kathy, Mr. Gorveatt, Steven, Joanne, David and families, I am truly sorry to learn of Lester's passing. Lester was one of a kind! I have great memories of our families spending time together when we were kids and then, years later, Lester and my big brother Donald (Newf) were always in cahoots together! When Donald died three years ago, Lester was there to spend time with my family and support us during that difficult period. I am sad to learn of my friend's death but I have so many great memories of Lester's kindness and love of life -- I feel fortunate to have been his friend. God bless you all. - Lynn

Kathy and Family;
My thoughts are with you as you mourn the loss of Lester.
Knowing Lester, I know he would want everyone to remember him for him; I will share a few memories of mine;
Eye Candy
His sense of humour
Always finding the good in someone or something
His love for his family and his bragging of how you, Kathy, picked out his clothes for him the night before, right down to his underwear and socks.
That twinkle in his eye, I often wondered what he was thinking.
A friend who found no imperfections in people.
A coworker, who helped me through many a computer, screw up.
Remember his qualities, his stories and he will always be with you.
I am here if you need me, only a call away.
