Obituary of Wyndel Hoogendoorn

HOOGENDOORN, Wyndel, 88, of Enfield formally of Selma It is with great sadness that we the family of Wyndel Hoogendoorn announce his passing. He lived in Enfield, with daughter Kim and son in law Mark, where he passed away peacefully on July 13, 2016. He was born in Ilpendam, Holland, son of the late Hein Hoogendoorn and Antje Hoogendoorn-Jongens. He was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments. Wyndel came to Canada in 1952, with hopes of being a dairy farmer. He achieved this and much more. He worked at Frieze & Roy and ran his own dairy farm until 1981. After this he worked on various farms including Cox Brothers Poultry Farm retiring in 1993. He enjoyed playing cards and socializing for many years, he enjoyed listening to stories of his grandchildren in Vancouver, he took a lot of pride in helping and watching his grandson Kyle grow into a man, he especially enjoyed all the family gatherings he had with the Currie's, most of all he enjoyed his gardening, he spent his last years growing vegetables in his yard in Enfield, one never knew where something might pop up. Survived by son Dirk (Jenny) Vancouver, BC, daughter Kim (Mark) Enfield, grandchildren Corey, Shawn, Kyle, Christian, Steven and Jesse, several great-grandchildren including the apple of his eye, Lucy; brothers, Henk (Trynie), Anton (Marietje) and Siem (Frieda) also survived by many nieces and nephews including "that great girl" as he would say, Donna. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Leah " Jane" (Bilby); sisters, Magdelena (Cor), Imke (Wim) and brother Arie (Map). A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 2:PM at Ettinger Funeral Home, Pastor Tammy Giffen officiating. The live stream of the service will begin at 1:55pm and is available by clicking “Webcast of Service” on his memorial on the website or directly at http://www.distantlink.com/ettingers.html. A reception in the funeral home hospitality area will follow the service. Interment will take place at The Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery in Maitland.
