SMITH, Eric - age 57, Gays River, passed away March 2, 2015 in the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Max "Ike" and Ruth (Tupper) Smith. His passion was heavy equipment and he was employed mainly in the construction industry beginning when he was 16, with Municipal Contracting, then Tidewater Construction and Eric Whebby Construction. He worked for National Gypsum for 25 years and also various mine and oil operations in Western Canada. He loved the New York Rangers, San Francisco 49ers and harness racing. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter with Cooks Brook Fire Department. He played many sports golf, darts, hockey, bowling and softball. Eric is survived by his wife Lynne; daughter Amanda; brother, Joey (Michelle) and their children Skye and Charissa; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by both of his parents. Visitation 6-8 Thursday and Friday with funeral service 2pm, Saturday all in the Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Ken Rains officiating. Reception to follow.
