ISAAC, James Joseph - 69, Waverley, passed away November 27, 2014 in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in North Sydney he was the son of Margaret (LeBlanc) Isaac, Halifax and the late Moses Wilfred Isaac. He moved to Halifax at an early age, and graduated from St. Pat's High in 1963. He joined the Air Cadets, 529 Atlantic Squadron. He took the Machinist Apprenticeship at H.M.C. Dockyard and graduated in 1967. He then attended St. Mary's University, taught at King's Regional Vocational, Dartmouth Vocational and then acquired his Bachelor of Education. His teaching career ended in 1994. Motorcycles were his life-long pre-occupation. He competed off road from 1966 to 1976 and was the first Maritimer to win a National Motorcycle Championship the National Trials Events in Montreal in 1967. In more recent years he collected and restored British and European motorcycles. Jim had a passion for the outdoors and was a dedicated organic gardener throughout his life. He was always concerned with leaving this earth in better condition than when he arrived. He is survived by his wife Gail, daughter Allison (Ross) Potter; grandchildren Tucker and Marshall; brother Daniel Isaac, sister Barbara Isaac; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Yvonne Bennett. Visitation 4 - 6 pm, Monday December 1, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday December 2, 2014. Please refrain from wearing scented products. Interment will be held in St. Margaret's Anglican Cemetery in Oakfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
