COX, Edith May - 96, Stewiacke, passed away peacefully at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on November 3, 2014. Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late William and Emma (Wise) Bamford. She was married to Ralph Cox for almost 64 years. They raised their family in Halifax. Her home was always open and she was always ready to set an extra plate at the table. Edith will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and by those she helped along the way. She was a long time member of St. Philips Anglican Church, Halifax. A member of the Church Guild, Church Choir and the Girl Guide Leader for 12 years. Edith collected for many charities and visited the sick. Upon retirement, she was active in Holy Trinity Church, Stewiacke. She enjoyed card parties, choral groups and spending time with family and lifelong friends. She is survived by daughters Joan Cox, Halifax; Patsy MacDonald, Glen Haven; Margaret Matheson, South Branch; sons William (Shirley), South Branch; Ralph (Judy), Trenton; John ( Ellen), Hammonds Plains; sisters Beatrice Wright, London, ON; Audrey (Keith) Sanderson, Stewiacke; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph, daughters Kathleen and Judy, sons-in-law Jack MacDonald and Gerald Matheson, sisters Elsie Andrews, Pauline Cooper, brother Stanley Bamford. Visitation 6-9 Friday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie with funeral service 2pm, Saturday, November 8, in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Stewiacke, Rev. Lloyd Ripley officiating assisted by Rev. Carl Fraser. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
