Brooks, Annie Catherine- 87, Sipekne'katik (Indian Brook) - passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25th. Annie had been employed in the kitchen at the Shubenacadie Residential School for many years. She retired from the Abenaki in Truro as a housekeeper. She devoted her life to her family. Annie is survived by her children, Catherine Willis; Mary Jane Brooks; Gilbert Brooks; James Sack; Lyn Sack; Grandchildren, Michael and CJ Sack and many others. She is survived by her brother, Fred Battiste, Eskasoni, who is now the sole surviving sibling from a family of 14 children. She was predeceased by 5 children, Peter Sack; Leo Sack; Carl Sack; Gloria, in infancy; and Beverley Sack; and 12 brothers and sisters. Visitation will begin after 6pm today at her residence 566 Church Street, Sipekne'katik ( Indian Brook) until the time of the funeral mass at 2pm on Thursday, 30 October in St. Kateri Roman Catholic Church, Father Tom Kurudeepan, OMI officiating. Burial will take place in the community cemetery following the mass. A Salite will be held afterward.
