Obituary of Elizabeth Meuse

MEUSE, Elizabeth "Aunt Libby" -86, Sipekane' Katik (Indian Brook) First Nation, passed away peacefully on Sunday , August 17, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born at home in Elmsdale, Libby moved to Indian Brook at the age of 2, where she lived her whole life. She was the youngest of 18 children. Aunts Lib's caring, and loving ways saw a pot of hot tea on all day and her home open for those who needed help or wanted a loving environment to visit. Every visitor who came to her door never left hungry. A keeper of history of the community, many sought out her knowledge to learn more about their connection and family. Libby was a skilled crafts person, and many of her creations are on display in various places. She shared her skills of basket making, bead work and quill work to many. Aunt Lib would share stories and laughter while playing Skipo over a cup of tea. She is survived by her children Elizabeth (Anthony) Nevin, Philomena (Harold) Morrison; 19 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; niece/sister Annie (Ronnie) Paul. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph (Sobey) Meuse, daughter Linda, sons William "Yogi", and Joseph "Junnie" Meuse. Visitation will be held at her home 20 Sesame Street, Sipekane'Katik (Indian Brook) after 2pm. Tuesday until time of service 10am, Thursday in St. Kateri Roman Catholic Church, Sipekane'Katik (Indian Brook), Father Tom Kurudeepan O.M.I. officiating. Interment in the Community Cemetery. Following the committal service a salite and meal will be held at the Community Centre.
