Obituary of Frank Hennigar

HENNIGAR, Frank Hazel Jr, more commonly known as "Junie”, of Noel, passed away peacefully August 21st 2024 at the Lilian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche NS at the age of 86.

Junie came into this world December 21st 1937 to parents Frank Sr and Iva Hennigar and younger brother to Thelma in Noel NS where he would spend most of his life.

Junie loved to work with his hands. Whether it be through his childhood helping his carpenter/butcher father and raising pigs in competition with his sisters "nasty smelling chickens." The money from which pigs he used to buy a bicycle he's owned for over 70 years. Continuing this love into mechanics. Graduating in Nova Scotias first red seal mechanics course, building mini cooper cars in downtown Halifax and eventually purchasing his own garage in Noel in 1963. Which he frequented till nearly the very end. 

In 1968 he was a founding member and deputy chief of the Noel Volunteer Fire Department. Eventually becoming chief for 21 years and honorary member for life and beyond. 

A beloved and respected community member, and devoted family man with a huge heart and compassionate soul. He helped wherever he could and will be missed by all.

Junie is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth; grandson, Cameron; niece and nephew Angie and Jack Laffin, and great niece and nephew Melody and Doug Laffin. 

Predeceased by his wife, Etta, parents, Frank Sr and Iva; sister, Thelma, sisters in-law, Dolly and Ellen and brother in-law, Teddy.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Truro hospital, the Lilian Fraser Memorial hospital in Tatamagouche, the Noel and District Volunteer Fire Department, the Laffin family and everyone who visited him during his stay in hospital. 

Funeral will be held 11am, Saturday August 31st at the Noel Cemetery on highway 215. With a reception to follow held by NDVFD at their fire hall on Burntcoat Road. 

Donations in namesake can be made to the Noel and District Volunteer Fire Department. "
