Obituary of Patrick Leonard Gehue
Patrick Leonard Gehue
“Patty Boy”
1965-2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother on May 22nd, 2024 at Chancellor Park, Long Term Care Facility in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
“Patty Boy” as he was affectionately known as in his hometown of Sipekne’katik First Nation, was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, to the late Stephen Gehue and Elizabeth (Sack) Gehue.
Patty Boy graduated from Hants East Rural High in 1984 and went on to pursue a lifelong career with the RCMP up until his stroke in September 2013. He served 26 years and retired as a Corporal. Be it known wherever Patty Boy had RCMP duties that bought him to Nova Scotia, he always made time to visit his Mum. Nothing quite like being greeted with open arms, a good cup of tea, food, and gossip with Mum, it always made her heart smile.
Passionate about Sports, Patty Boy made quite a reputation in his community. Avid runner, Hockey Player, and Ball Player. He’s a legend amongst his peers here today and forever more.
One awesome fastball pitcher! Top Notch! Just mention the “Titans” those who remember will talk your ear off, that was just the beginning. He also coached hockey, soccer, and softball over in NFLD.
He was a Hunter, fisherman and will be sure to tell he was the “Master” of Rubik's Cube, Cribbage Champ of NFLD, Darts and Card Hockey. He loved his Toronto Maple Leafs unconditionally.
He is survived by his wife Colleen (Fox) Gehue, children, Michael (Megan), Maria (Evan) Rachel and Caroline, grandchildren Freyah, Fiona, and Theo. Sisters - Germaine, Georgina, Stephanie *Ginger* (George), Charmaine *Wendy*, brothers – Stevie, Gabriel *Moochie*, Sheldon *Wheeler*. maternal Aunty Harriet, Godmother Patricia Pictou, Godchildren – Wade Sack, Marcus Dennis, Tommy Beer; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by nephew Sammy, Mother-in-Law Madeline Hall, brother-in-law Jeffrey Fox, niece, Katie Beer, great nephew Elijah Julian.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. The void left by Patty’s passing is felt by too many people to mention.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be at his family home, 10 Burma Road, Indian Brook, on Saturday June 1st, 2024, from 9am to 3pm with funeral mass to follow at 4pm at St. Catherine’s Parish. We are asking people to wear blue in Memory of Patty and his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
