MacKENZIE, Nettie Marie, 96, of Upper Nine Mile River NS passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2014 at Windsor Elms Retirement home, Falmouth. She was born to Robert and Minnie Robinson August 20th, 1917 in Rawdon Gold Mines NS, she married the love of her life, Arthur Lester MacKenzie February 6, 1937. Nettie was a lifelong member of the Woman's Institute, and taught Sunday School in Ontario and Nova Scotia, touching the lives of many people along the way. She enjoyed Quilting, gardening, reading, knitting and doing wordsearch puzzles. Nana's greatest joy was spending time with her family for whom she always had a smile and a hug. Nettie is survived by brother Warren Robinson, Ontario, daughter Elsie Retfalvi and grandchildren Erika (Daniel) Sheehy, Donald (Theresa) Retfalvi, David (Natalie) Retfalvi, Laszlo (Jackie) Retfalvi, and Lojos (Lily) Retfalvi, and 11 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, two sisters and six brothers. The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Windsor Elms for the exceptional care they gave Nettie throughout her stay with them. There will be a reception at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie on Thursday 27 February from 6 to 8 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Windsor Elms Retirement Home or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
