Obituary of Anthony Blaine Schrader

SCHRADER, Anthony Blaine- Age 61, of Shubenacadie passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late James and Charmaine (MacKinnon)Schrader.

At a young age, Blaine had an interest in the military. So, at the ages of 17 and 18, Blaine and his brother “Jimmy” joined the military. Very quickly they learned it wasn’t for them. Blaine grew up in North end Dartmouth where everyone who met him instantly loved him. His friends meant the world to him. You could always count on Blaine for being the “cool guy”. Blaine had many different jobs in life which led everyone to call him the “Jack of all trades”. From building roofs to fixing small engines, Blaine could do the job. He loved to swim, go camping, four wheeling and enjoyed fishing. Blaine sure did love his garage and you could find him there for hours on end, “tinkering”, having a fire and playing his music. We all know how much he loved his music; he could play air drums like no other.

In the last years of Blaine’s life, he found himself working his last but favorite job at XTRA gas station in Shubenacadie where he found a work family that grew important to him. Blaine became almost a staple to the community, and everyone knew and loved him. Go for a drive with Blaine and quickly learn how well loved he was. Blaine touched the lives of all he knew.

Blaine found a love that was special to him. His spouse, Susan after living 30 years of living their own lives, re-united and formed an everlasting bond and love, right to the very end. He will be greatly missed. Blaine can finally be reunited with his wife, Evelyn Schrader and his parents.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Susan “Suzy Q” Poole; children, Lee Norwood (Sasha), Stephanie Schrader, Lisa Schrader (Angela), Brandon Schrader (Kendra); grandchildren, Sierra, Harley, Liam, Madison, Kianna, Khloey, Kyleigh, Kylee, Jaxon, Lincoln, Anthony, Evelyn and Nathan; siblings, James Schrader, Marnie DeWolfe (Stephen), Wanda Schrader (Cecil), Dean Schrader (Amanda).

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn May Schrader.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.

Funeral service will be held 10am Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in St. Bridget’s Church, Shubenacadie. Deacon Wilfred Boudreau officiating.
