Obituary of Robie Clyde Scott
SCOTT, Robie Clyde - age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Murchyville with his two daughters by his side on the morning of May 24, 2023.
Born January 11th 1938, on the family farm, he was the thirteenth child of the late John Permenas Scott and Sarah Amelia (Bell) Scott.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. Robie is survived by his sister Annie Laura (Scott) Smith (Nepean, ON) and his brother Douglas Greig Scott (Middle Musquodoboit, NS). Grieving with them are his daughter and son-in-law Stacey Diane Scott Nykolyshyn and Sean Nykolyshyn (Halifax, NS) and his daughter Connie Doreen Scott (Edmonton, AB).
He will be missed and fondly remembered as kind, loyal, and quiet by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and good neighbours, who have hosted holidays, initiated gatherings, visited wherever he was living or working, and kept in touch across the miles with cards, letters, and phones calls.
A proud long-time member and retiree of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955, he was mechanically inclined and experienced at operating a backhoe, compactor, crane, dozer, excavator, grader, loader, paver or pipe layer, enjoyed tinkering to keep his tool shed and property tidy, watching wildlife from his deck and winning a game of crib. He built highways giving us access to the majestic Rocky Mountains and infrastructure, across several provinces, that remains the backbone of the Canadian economy.
We are grateful for family, friends and colleagues, and the healthcare teams who have supported us in providing compassionate care, check-ins and comfort food over the years.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. As per his wishes, no internment or service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please share your memories and stories honouring his career, life and friendship or consider making a memorial donation to the Canadian Red Cross 2023 Alberta Fires Appeal, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
