Gordon Arnold Moxsom Obituary

MOXSOM, Gordon Arnold – age 74, of Hardwoodlands.

Our beloved Gordon passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2023, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born on November 9th, 1948, in Hardwoodlands, he was the son of the late Arnold and Esther (Weston) Moxsom.

He was an automotive and industrial sales rep for most of his career. Gordon was a member of the St. James Anglican Church and served as Church Warden for several years. He was a trustee and a member of the Hardwoodlands Cemetery Committee up until recently.

He always loved hockey and played for the Old Timer Prospect Hockey Team. When he wasn’t playing, he would be watching his favorite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, or his two grandsons playing. He was their number one dedicated fan. He spent many years coaching his daughters’ soccer teams and was the president of the East Hants Soccer Association.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, playing golf, fishing, and bowling. He spent a lot of time outside birdwatching, gardening, and camping. Gordon cherished spending time with family, his dogs, and especially with his grandchildren. He treasured every moment with them and loved watching them play sports, including hockey, baseball, and soccer.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen; his four daughters Tracy MacCallum (Cory), Amanda Moxsom, Michelle Isenor (Phill), and Amy Moxsom (Dewayne); his six grandchildren, Tyler MacCallum (Caitlin), Taylor Moxsom (Connor), Nicholas MacCallum (Luc), Kyle and Jaiden Fazio, and Cohen Moxsom-Miller; two step-grandchildren, Jayson and Kayleigh Isenor; one step great-grandchild, Felicity; brother George Moxsom (Nora) and three sisters Elizabeth Crawford, Diane Dickie, and Helen Dixon (Cecil); several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his only son, Stephen, and brother William.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff who were part of Gordon’s exceptional and outstanding care during his stay at the ICU in CEHHC.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes in Shubenacadie.

His family would like to invite all that knew him through work, sport, or community involvement to his Funeral Service on Sunday, April 2nd, at 2:00 pm at St. James Anglican Church, Shubenacadie. Reception to follow in the church hall. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
