Obituary of Evelyn MacMillan

Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MACMILLAN, Marie Celina "Evelyn " - 73, Enfield, passed away at home on January 12, 2014 with her family by her side. Born in Benjamin River, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late James and Celina Gagne. Family was the most important part of her life and the time she spent with her children and grandchildren was precious. Evelyn would often say, "Patience - Remember your child has not been a parent, but as a parent, you have been a child. Draw from that experience." She worked hard at ensuring that each of her children and grandchildren felt that they were treated equally and fairly; that lesson was instilled in each of us. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed creative writing, needle work, and spending many happy hours volunteering with Brownies, Special Needs Adults, and the schools where her grandchildren went. Later in life, she wanted to achieve her high school diploma; so in 1985, through correspondence, Evelyn graduated from Charles P. Allen High School. (The same School her Children went to.) Evelyn is survived by her husband Kenneth, son Todd MacMillan (Carolyn), Enfield; daughters Darlene Brown (Todd), Enfield; Brenda Gaines (Darryl) Dartmouth; grandchildren Ryan and Amanda Brown, Abbey and Jessica Gaines, Camron MacMillan, and numerous siblings and their families throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec. She was predeceased by several siblings. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. Memorial service to be held at a later date this year. At the request of the family no flowers please. Donations may be made in Evelyn's name to a charity of your choice. Condolences, words of comfort and remembrances of Evelyn may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
