Obituary of Frederick Ross Newman
NEWMAN, Frederick Ross - age 87 of Carroll’s Corner, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 27 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. He was the son of the late James and Winnifred Newman.
Fred drove truck for many years for Leo Isenor Trucking, LE Shaw Limited and Commercial Highway Services until his retirement in 1997. He loved being at home, keeping his property neat and tidy and making sure his truck was always clean and shiny. He spent many hours in his garage puttering around and listening to country music by his favorite singers and he especially enjoyed having his wife join him with her guitar to sing him a song.
Fred will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 70 years, Sheila; daughters, Jo-Ann Spicer (Floyd), Glenda Roberts (Derek); sons, Curtis, Jim (Danita), Paul (Janice); son-in-law, John Ashley; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Glen Newman and sisters, June Isenor and Joyce Miller.
Fred was predeceased by his loving daughter, Bonnie and special son-in-law, Robert Ashley; his brothers, Harry Taylor and Robert Newman; sisters, Ruth Isenor, Laura Castle, Helen Castle and Ferne Cole.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
In accordance with Fred’s wishes, a private burial will be held with his immediate family.
Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Breast Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Cancer Society or Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
