Obituary of Betty Chambers

CHAMBERS, Alice Elizabeth “Betty” – age 73 of Shubenacadie, passed away in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on February 15, 2022.  Betty was born May 10, 1948 in Truro, the eldest child of the late Roy and Frieda (Hennigar) Hill and grew up on the family farm in Noel Shore.

Betty left home at an early age and worked in housekeeping and retail. She started her family while living in Nine Mile River later moving to her new home in MacPhee’s Corner. Family time and holidays were extremely important to Betty. As a child Betty attended CGIT and always had a love for music and nature. Betty was an active member of Light House Ministries where she enjoyed friendship and fellowship. Many good times were had with Christine and Neil at church functions. She was an Associate Member of The Royal Canadian Legion No. 111.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Elliott; daughter, Darlene Elliott; grandchildren, Tyson and Austin; sisters, Lexi Barkhouse (Ed); Kimberly Kimbell (Peter); several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brother, James Hill; former husbands, Walter Elliott and James Chambers.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A service will follow at a later date in Noel Shore.

Memorial Donations may be made to Light House Ministries, Mount Hope Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Thank you to all that helped Betty along her journey. Special thank you to the Palliative Care unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their outstanding care and compassion to Betty.
