To Wilma's family: I was sad to read yesterday of Wilma's death. I remember Wilma well from years long past--she and I were sometimes seat-mates on the school bus heading to high school. Wilma was always one of the "good kids" on the bus: friendly and caring. I'm not surprised to read that she became a loving parent and supportive teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mum. Her warm smile brought joy to learning. She believed strongly in her students at Fall River East. Your Mum was kind and caring. My sister skipped a grade with her dedication to teaching. “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” Henry Adams. But in our hearts you will never die your memories will keep your Mum near. .... May happy memories of her sustain you and your family at this time. Sharon Lyon Burlington NC

My Mum was tough. In my opinion, she was a force to be reckoned with. She didn't stand very tall but she usually had an opinion on just about any topic and wasn't afraid let you know it. She showed lots of passion to stand up against things she thought were wrong, yet, she loved with the same amount of passion and was a true friend to anyone that she let into her world. As her youngest son, I saw many changes in her as the years went on. She helped me grow as a person, into a man and finally as a husband and father, I think she was one of my biggest supporters. I hope I can continue to live up to her standards and keep making the right decisions, the way she would want me to. She was the first woman in my life. She was the first woman who loved me, and I loved back. I sure did put her through her paces and challenged that love, but we came through it and were much stronger for it. I think she still believed in me, and was proud of me and she never gave up on me. For that, I am truly thankful that I can honestly say - I had a fantastic relationship with my Mum. I am very proud to be able to say that my Mum was very much, my friend.
