BARBRICK, (HILCHEY) Irene, Debert Court/Stewiacke. It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother on September 17, 2013 at her home in Debert Court. Mom was born in Stewiacke to the late Ellsworth and Annie (Crawford) Hilchey on September 3, 1924. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday. She enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle in the morning paper until she could no longer see to do it and she loved going to sing-along, bingo and other activities at the home. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil, whom she had been married to for over 43 years. They had lived in Woodstock / Sudbury, Ontario for 25 years. Mom was a loving mother and friend to her son Carl, Shubenacadie; daughters Ruth (Lawrence MacDonald), Five Mile River; and Sandy ((Reggie) Parker, Shubenacadie East; grandmother to Randy, Shanda (Ben), Ashley, Vaughan (Amber), Reggie (Celia), Michael (Tara); great grandmother to Carmine, Erica, Mitchell, Irey, Mason, Alex, Jaiden and Brianna. She was predeceased by daughter Patricia in infancy, brother Carl Hilchey and sisters Elsie Miller, Lorna Davis and Avis in infancy. Mom will be missed deeply by her friends and the wonderful and caring staff at Debert Court where she had been a resident for the past three years. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held at Debert Court 11 am, Thursday, September 19, 2013.Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East.
