I met Gerald as part of Local 100 executive. I enjoyed working with him and especially enjoyed our visit in Halifax when he showed us around. We talked about our families and my time in Mt. Allison. He was a joy to be around and I will miss him. My condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to the Day family.
I met Gerald in junior high school. In high school we became best friends. We hung out a lot together. We were always laughing and having a great time. I went to my first rock concert (April Wine) with Gerald.
I moved away and lost touch.
He will forever have a place in my heart.
I miss you my friend.

I've known Gerald for over 30 years and will miss him greatly. He was a great guy to work with, always helpful and generous thinking of others first. Every time he came over to the stockroom we would joke about "The Simpsons". A few years ago we got together a few time to play guitar, I ask him recently that we should get together with our guitars again. Now when I play I'll keep you in my heart and music. Peace My Friend.

From all Gerald's many friends at Unifor Local 100 We offer our Deepest Condolences. One of my fondest memories as my time as President of Local 100 was sitting down on the docks in Halifax playing guitar and singing with Gerald, Scott, and Darlene till the wee hours. Gerald wore his heart on his sleeve and was as genuine as they come. He will be sadly missed. Our Union will be making a donation to Cancer society in his memory. RIP My Friend.

My deepest and sincere condolences on the loss of Gerald. I went to school with Gerald and I remember he had a great sense of humour, was smart, and everyone liked him. He was extraordinarily kind and a gentle man. Gerald was the kind of guy that you may not have seen in years, but when you did meet again he made you feel like no time had passed. He had that way about him… He made people feel special.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I had the privilege of knowing/working with Gerald for the past 20 years. He was a great person, co-worker and friend. If you needed someone to talk to, he was there. If you needed advice, he was there to give it. If you needed a hand, he was the first one to offer one. He was genuinely the nicest person I have ever met.
I will miss our talks about sports, music, TV and about household projects we may have had on the go. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Rest in Peace G.
My deepest condolences to the entire Day family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I never met Gerald, or anyone in his family, everything I know about him comes from Alyssa sharing stories of her life with me.
I can say that without a doubt I would have loved to meet this man. He was kind, patient, modest and empathetic. He raised his kids well and did his best for his family. Everything I've heard about him has been a positive.
When I heard of his passing, it was like a punch in the gut. For a man I've never met, father of a friend I am unlikely to meet face to face, to cause such a reaction, should show just what kind of person Gerald was.
May he Rest in Peace.
