Obituary of Elsie Josephine Connolly

CONNOLLY, Elsie Josephine – age 91, of Lantz, passed away on Monday March 20, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Halifax. Elsie was born in Lantz to George and Ellen (Smith) Carroll on July 18, 1925. She worked as Executive Housekeeper for Mount St. Vincent University for many years. She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary with the Royal Canadian Legion Elmsdale Branch # 48. She enjoyed playing bingo, darts, playing cards, bowling and loved music and to dance. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel; brothers, Walt, Norm, Jimmy, Vic, Lewis; sisters, Mabel, Verna, Alice, Winnifred and Ruby. Elsie is survived by her son, Robert and Patricia (McLay) Carroll, Lantz; grandchildren, Mark and Karen (MacPhee) Carroll, Grande Prairie, AB.; Susan Carroll, Lantz; great grandchildren, Brooke, Shamus, Grace, Jake Carroll of Grand Prairie, AB. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held in Christ Church, 14 Church Street, Lantz 10:30 am, Thursday, March 23, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. Interment at a later date. A reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Elmsdale. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her extended family at the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home - staff and residents.
