Obituary of Barbara Jean Cameron

CAMERON, Barbara Jean – age 81, of Stewiacke passed away after a brief illness on November 23, 2016 in the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax, NS. Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Ruby and John Cameron. Barbara retired after 30 years service with the Canadian Blood Service, Toronto, ON. She was a kind and compassionate woman, having sponsored two children through SOS for many years. While living in Ontario, she was a member of the Canadian Forces Reserve, and once she returned to Stewiacke she became a member of Stewiacke Legion Branch 70. She is survived by her sisters; Norma Deyarmond, Riverview, NB, Reta O’Neil, Truro; Faye (Robie) Ettinger, Stewiacke; Joanne (Jim) Isenor, Shortts Lake; many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Don and Jack; sister, Delta Palmer; brothers in law, Harold Deyarmond and Geoff Palmer. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. No visitation or service by request. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Barbara’s memory to organizations she faithfully supported would be appreciated - SPCA or a Food Bank.
