MOXSOM, Russell Elmer 87 Shubenacadie, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Hardwood Lands, he was a son of the late Perley and Hazel (Burris) Moxsom. Russell and Philip ran the family farm together from 1978 onward. They also operated a government inspected butcher plant called Moxsom Meats from 1996 for about 15 years. Russell and his wife Evelyn and brother John, operated Hants Livestock Sales in Windsor for 17 years. The family business would hold private auctions locally as well. Russell was an old-school farmer who loved the life on the road as a cattle dealer. He was a well respected farmer and businessman in the community. He is survived by his sons, Curtis (Sonya), Stewiacke, Philip and Keith (Christine), both of Shubenacadie; grandchildren Dianne, Dawn, Christopher, Trevor, Jeffery and Rory, nine great grandchildren; brother John (Rita), Hardwood Lands, many nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Grace (MacDonald), sisters Jean and Doris, brothers, Elwin and Walter. Cremation has taken place, visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Tuesday in the Ettinger Funeral Home Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Spring burial will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village. Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made to the Braeside Home for Special Care, Middle Musquodoboit.
